Newsletter Vision

The purpose of our newsletter is to provide a timely and beneficial resource to the men at Church on the Rock. It is our desire to see the men in our church grow spiritually, relationally, mentally, emotionally, etc. We know that it is the Word that transforms our lives and we want to put the Word in action in the lives of our men through ongoing feeding of the word, community involvement, personal accountability & connection, team work, and fellowship.

Statistics reveal that men are the foundation of a successful home, a successful home is the foundation to a successful Church, a successful church is the foundation for a successful community, state, nation, etc.

It is the vision and desire of our Pastors to birth, establish and maintain a strong local church and to see the power of God manifest in our services and in our personal lives. This newsletter is simply a tool to use in an effort to see this vision become a greater reality.

Message from Pastor

Faithfulness

Throughout the scriptures there seems to be one underlining character trait that accompanied promotion and increase, and that is faithfulness. It amazes me as a pastor to see so many people disqualify themselves because they are not faithful. Matthew 22:14, "...for many are called but few are chosen." That tells me that many people can be talented, skilled and called but because of their character they are overlooked.

Faithfulness is the key to divine promotion. As I previously mentioned being faithful is a character issue and listed as one of the fruits of the spirit. Galatians 5:22, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith”. The word faith in this verse means faithfulness which, of course, can be developed. We all need to look at our life and ask ourselves are we faithful? Are we faithful at keeping our word? Are we watching over our word to perform it? Do we say things and then never do what we say? All these things matter to God and will have a great impact on you fulfilling God’s plan for your life. Luke 16:10, “He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much”.

The average believer wants to start off at the top and do big things for God, and that is commendable, but God will test how faithful you are by giving you small things to do. Because God knows how you handle the small things is how you’re going to handle big things. I’ve noticed over the years those that just remain faithful doing whatever God told them to do, no matter how big or small the tasks are, they seem to always flourish and increase. Their increase is not necessarily in position but there increase is in their family, finances, joy, revelation, and peace of mind... Praise God!

I’m telling you if you make a decision to be faithful and stay with it, God will bless you and use you tremendously. I remember when Pastor Angie and I started in the ministry we started by helping out in the preschool, and what a joy it was. I can remember it like it was yesterday. We were just excited to be helping out. Then over time, God gave us other things to do and as we were faithful at doing whatever he asked us to do. There came a day when we stepped into the divine purpose for our life. After about 9 years God spoke to me about being a pastor. It didn’t happen overnight and it wasn’t anything I wanted. I just stayed faithful and God chose us. I remember the scripture God gave me when he called me... it’s found in John 15:16, “Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you”.

Faithfulness is the key to promotion and we all have to follow the same road. Look at what Paul wrote in 1 Timothy 1:12, “And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry”. I want to challenge you to be faithful not only at what you do for the Lord at church, but in your everyday life too. If you will make a commitment to the Lord and stay faithful, promotion will surely come and no one will be able to stop it.

Love you!

Church on the Rock News

"COTR Phase 2..." We moved into our current building in March 2007 . In just a short time it became evident that our growth was pushing us to capacity. Through the wisdom of God, our Pastors have stretched the space to it's full potential and now we must, in the words of Isaiah 54:2, "enlarge the place of thy tent...lengthen the cords and strengthen thy stakes." Above, you see a video of phase two of our building (click to play). Please continue to be in agreement with us that this building is coming up. This is OUR building and it's for OUR kids. Remember, you give as you purpose in your heart, there is no pressure. We are just excited about the opportunity for the whole church body to come together and lend their FULL supply, and by doing so all our families, and those families still to come, will be blessed.

Revolution Band: CD's are still available to be sold. If you have friends/family that do not have this anointed CD, make sure to get them one. This is a great witnessing tool as well...the anointing impacts the heart. Buy a CD today.

Volunteer Help: We are in need of some help with the church grounds on Saturday mornings. If you are available to lend your supply, please contact Brother Joe Gonzales. Thank you for all you do to make this ministry successful!

Interesting Fact

How Impactful is Faith on Children?

Nearly three out of every four (75%) American adults say they are the same religious faith today as they were during their childhood. That means the most common faith journey that people take is to form spiritual commitments as children and teenagers that typically last for the duration of their life.

Most of the people who have made changes in their faith did so as a teenager or young adult. The study discovered that the median age at the time they changed faiths or significantly altered their faith perspective was 22.

One-third of those who experienced a significant faith shift did so during their twenties and another one-third did so before age 20. In total, two-thirds of people who had a major faith change experienced that outcome before the age of 30 (68%). In fact, among respondents over 40, only 5% of them reported making a major shift in their religious affiliation after the age of 40.

A Special Message from Pastor – Magnify Your Office!

For us, as a body of believers, to step into the full potential that God has for us, we must learn and be committed to magnifying our office/functions within the body. We must pursue the characteristics or qualities of Honor, Truth, Integrity, Faithfulness, etc. in order to magnify the functions that God has assigned us to.

Look at Ephesians 4:16, “For because of Him the whole body (the church, in all its various parts), closely joined and firmly knit together by the joints and ligaments with which it is supplied, when each part [with power adapted to its need] is working properly [in all its functions], grows to full maturity, building itself up in love” (Amplified). The scripture here in Ephesians 4:16, points to the necessity of each part “working properly in all its functions” in order to grow to full maturity or reaching its full potential.

Let me ask you a question, can a super-charged V8 engine reach its full potential only functioning on 4 cylinders? Can the engine function with no oil running through it? What potential does it reach if all the working parts are not functioning? Of course, none of these questions can be answered with a positive outcome. As a body, we must ALL do our part to bring the engine to its full potential. We cannot reach our full potential if only half of the working parts are active.

Those active parts must also function within the area assigned to them. For example, in the vehicle referenced above, oil cannot function like gas, a piston cannot function like a spark plug, nor can a drive shaft function like a radiator. Part of magnifying your office is learning to function within the office God has given you. What is your function today? Has God assigned you to usher, or maybe to be a children’s worker, or to assist in the parking lot? Whatever the function, operate in that function with ALL your heart and ALL your strength.

There are a few things you can do to help reach your full potential – or to “Magnify your Office”. They are:

  1. Be Faithful
    A faithful man shall abound… (Proverbs 28:20)
Unfaithfulness will disqualify you (Luke 16:10)
  2. Walk in Love
In order to walk in faith or faithfulness, you must walk in love. Galatians 5:6 tells us that “Faith (faithfulness) worketh by love”.
  3. Pray in the Holy Ghost
Praying in the Holy Ghost causes you to function at a higher level (Jude 1:20)

How you handle (operates within, prepare for) your office will determine where you go with God. Regardless of the office assigned, we all have a function within the body. We cannot rely on just a few parts, but we need each part to function within its individual full potential in order for our Body to function to its full potential. Remember, your tomorrow is connected to what you prepare for today (ref: Joshua 3:5). Our “preparation” is determined by how we live, Colossians 1:10 (Amplified), “That you may walk (live and conduct yourselves) in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to Him and [a]desiring to please Him in all things, bearing fruit in every good work and steadily growing and increasing in and by the knowledge of God [with fuller, deeper, and clearer insight, [b]acquaintance, and recognition].
